The fear of the deadly Ebola virus disease (EVD) has made some Nigerian governors avoid the traditional handshake greeting.

Governor Oshiomole, while receiving President Goodluck Jonathan at the airport in Benin did what people term 'the ebola greeting'.

The Edo governor and President Goodluck Jonathan, who was coming from a huge PDP rally in his state joked and laughed about it and peace prevailed.

On 13th August, during a crucial meeting with the President on resolving EVD problems, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, Godswill Akpabio of Akwaibom state, and Theodore Orji of Abia were photographed greeting each other but they avoided handshakes. Instead, they went for the 'chop knuckle' kind of greeting.

First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan was also pictured greeting officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Poland as she arrived the Gdansk Walesa International Airport in Sopoto, Northern Poland to commission a training ship built for the Nigerian Oceanographic Institute for Marine and Research purposes.
