Mansur Abdullahi, the Technical Adviser of NIMC Football Club, on Monday in Abuja said the club had lost all hopes regarding its team’s promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NIMC FC is one of the Abuja-based clubs in the 2013/2014 Nigeria Nation-Wide League (NNWL) season.

Abdullahi told NAN the club had given up the fight for a promotion ticket to the NNL this season.

“We are currently 10 points behind table-toppers Kaduna Bees FC in Group A of the NNWL Division One, and with just three more matches to go, there is nothing we can do to salvage the situation.

“Kaduna Bees are on 34 points, while we are currently in fourth position with 24 points and, even if we win all our matches and they lose theirs, we cannot catch up with them,’’ he said.

Abdullahi blamed the situation on too many home draws, saying if his team had won most of their home games, they would have probably been home and dry by now.

“We made too many mistakes and failed to take advantage of our home games, which caused us to drop some vital points.

“We are however a young and inexperienced team with a lot of prospects for the future, having just been promoted to the NNWL, and we are very safe from relegation.

“So, to finish second or third in our first season will not be a bad feat afterall.

“Hopefully, we would give it a better push next season. But the most important thing is to stay up in the league,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the 2013/2014 NNWL season which began on Feb. 20 will end on Aug. 8.
